Denmark halts exportations of pigs to Russia
Denmark's Veterinary and Food Administration has begun immediate investigations into deaths of export breeding pigs to Russia.
The pigs were part of three consignments of breeding pigs destined for the Tambov Oblast that were detained on the Belarus border.
In all, 37 pigs were found to have died.
According to the Russian veterinary authority, Rosselkhoznador. the Danish Veterinary Service said that the investigation was necessary and the authority will have introduce corrective measures aimed at prevention of such cases in future.
The investigation and the report to Rosselkhoznador is expected to take 15 days, during which time Denmark has decided to stop sending breeding pig to Russia.
