EU countries foresee high wheat output for 2010
Romania, Bulgaria and Hungary are projected to harvest 1.2 million tonnes of wheat this year, according to French research firm Strategie Grains.
The Eastern European countries will benefit of good weather conditions and the wheat crops will consequently be good.
This comes against a slight downward correction in the EU's wheat crop on the back of adverse wheat conditions in Western Europe. Therefore, Romania's wheat exporters can expect significant deliveries in Spain and Portugal.
The heavy rains in Serbia and Hungary also reached the Western part of the country and partly South Western regions with important grain cultures. But the Southern and South Eastern regions remained untouched and even the damages in Western areas are uncertain. There are not yet reports about massive damages of the Western vegetal farms close to the border with Hungary and Serbia.
