Azerbaijan meat output down slightly in April
For April 2009, meat production in Azerbaijan is reduced by 1 percent compared to January 2009, but grew by 2.1 percent compared to April 2008.
The State Statistics Committee (SSC) said that the April 2009 meat production reached 24,400 tonnes versus 24,100 tonnes in March 2009, 23,655 tonnes in February 2009, 24,645 tonnes in January 2009 and 24,400 tonnes in March 2008.
For January to April 2009, the country produced 96,800 tonnes of meat versus 95,000 tonnes, up 2 percent during the same period in 2008.
In December 2008, 25,300 tonnes of meat was produced as compared to 25,900 tonnes in December 2007.
SSC said 442,600 tonnes of milk was produced in January to April 2009, up 3 percent as compared to the same period in 2008.
As of April 1, 2009, the country's cattle stock was at 2,574,200 heads as compared to 2,549,500 heads in January, an increase of 24,700 heads for the first quarter, while pig stock reduced was at 12,200 heads as compared to 11,700 heads in January 2009.
