South Africa's Rainbow Chicken loses R80 million because of bad feed
Due to contaminated chicken feed that caused the deaths of a large number of poultry, South Africa's Rainbow Chicken lost R80 million during January to March this year, a 0.5 percent dip in revenue.
Rainbow has wholly accounted for the loss, and lodged a letter of demand with the feed supplier in an attempt to cover the damages. Rainbow dominates the R11billion South African chicken market with about 4 million birds processed weekly.
