First Cobb chicks delivered by new Akashevo hatchery in Russia

A new Russia-based hatchery under Akashevo, a "strong and reliable" partner of Cobb-Vantress, Inc., had made its first delivery of chicks to Vasilievskaya which is a part of the Cherkizovo group, according to a press release by Cobb.

The hatchery provides four million Cobb500 parent stock yearly within the Federation.

"For Cobb, it is extremely important to produce chicks here in Russia so that our customers are assured of a constant supply of top quality genetics," said Patrick van Trijp, Cobb's account manager for Russia and CIS nations.   "This is a clear indication of our belief in the potential of the Russian market."

"Together with our distributor, Broiler Budushevo, Cobb is looking to provide 30% of the total demand for parent stock in Russia," van Trijp added.

"I am impressed by quality delivered from the Akashevo hatchery," Gary Fisher, the Cobb director of hatcheries, commented. "Their people are highly motivated and have adopted the Cobb standards on bio-security and quality very quickly. I'm convinced that Akashevo will maintain our high standards of quality in their chicks."

Vasilievskaya, based in the Penza region, is reportedly pleased with the quality of the chicks.

"The chicks were very lively and active, with almost no losses on arrival.  This is the quality we've come to expect from Cobb during the last five years," Ruslan Nemov, the chief technologist of Vasilievskaya, said.
