Nebraska's cattle on feed declined by 3%
As of May 1, Nebraska feedlots, with capacities of 1,000 or more head, contained 2.39 million cattle on feed, a decrease of 3% from last year.
This is according to the USDA's National Agricultural Statistics Service, Nebraska Field Office.
Placements during April totalled 450,000 head, up 22% from 2012. This is the highest April placements since the data series began in 1994.
Fed cattle marketing for the month of April totalled 470,000 head, up 12% from last year. This is the highest April marketing since the data series began in 1994. Other disappearance during April totalled 10,000 head, down 10,000 head from a year ago.
