Ukraine to impose grain export duties
Ukraine will impose, as part of parliament's new law, export duties on wheat, corn and barley until January 1, 2012.
In particular, export duties on wheat were set at 9% but should be no less than EUR17 (US$24) per tonne. Corn exports will be taxed at a 12% rate, which should be at least EUR20 (US$29) per tonne, while exporters of barley will have to pay a 14% duty, or not less than EUR23 (US$33) per tonne.
First deputy agricultural policy and food minister, Mykola Bezuhlyy, says that the Agricultural Policy and Food Ministry has proposed to ban quotas on wheat and barley exports.
