Pakistan's poultry vaccine imports hit US$699,000 per year
Pakistan is importing poultry vaccines worth PKR6 billion (US$699,000) every year, in order to fight diseases found in livestock as well as humans.
This was stated by the Vice Chancellor of the University of Veterinary and Animal Sciences (UVAS), Prof Dr Muhammad Nawaz, while addressing a workshop titled "Molecular Diagnostics", organized by UVAS institute of biochemistry and biotechnology. The UVAS Vice Chancellor Prof Dr Muhammad Nawaz said that Pakistan could make progress by leaps and bounds by adopting the new vista of research and developing sciences. He called upon the pharmaceutical entrepreneur and business men to make join hand with UVAS with its unique project Lahore Bio Technology Park
"Pakistan is importing preventive diagnostic and therapeutic biological vaccines for use in animals and humans worth billions of dollars and only the poultry import is nearly PKR6 billion (US$699,000) per annum," said Dr Nawaz.
