Peru 1Q seafood exports up 9.9 percent
                       


Exports of seafood of Peru reported an increase of 9.9 percent during the first quarter of 2009, to US$18.39 million from US$16.39 million in the same period of 2008, said Asociacion de Exportadores (ADEX).

 

Despite the international financial crisis, the US firmed position as the main market for the Peruvian seafood with US$14.56 million or 79.1 percent of the total followed by Spain with 13.9 percent and France with 1.9 percent.

 

The main seafood exporters are Marinazul with sales of US$3.3 million, Corporacion Refrigerados INY with US$2.59 million and Eco Acuicola with US$1.9 million.
