Philippine province to set up meat abattoir
A Class AA slaughterhouse is set to rise very soon in the capital town of Lingayen, according to Mayor Ernesto Jonas Castaneda.
A Class AA abattoir is authorised to supply meat to the town where it is located and to its neighbours.
Castaneda said PHP13 million was set aside for the project that will serve not only the needs of the town but also neighbouring municipalities.
He said funding for the slaughterhouse project will come from the PHP45-million-loan with the Land Bank of the Philippines which is due for release.
He disclosed that the facility will be constructed at the old abattoir site in barangay Domalandan West, and bidding was scheduled next month which is time for the release of the loan.
He said that his administration is unrelenting in the enforcement of sanitation laws and ordinances, citing the apprehension of suspected "double-dead" meat last month.
