Q1 2008 poultry sales up at Russia's Cherkizovo, pork sales double

  

 

Russian meat producer OAO Cherkizovo Group Tuesday (May 20, 2008) said sales at its poultry division grew 6 percent on the year in the first quarter of 2008 to around 41,500 tonnes.

 

That figure incorporates sales from Chicken Kingdom, which it bought midway through the year.

 

Cherkizovo said sales at its pork division more than doubled in the first quarter to around 10,000 tonnes from approximately 4,000 tons in the equivalent period in 2007, with average selling prices rising 11 percent to $2.33 per kilogramme.

 

Processed meat sales volumes increased 4 percent to around 34,000 tonnes, from 32,800 tonnes in the first quarter of 2007, with prices rising 19 percent to US$3.2 per kilogram.
