Global Production Capacity of Vitamin C Seen To Reach 120,000 Tons in 2004

The global production capacity of vitamin C is expected to reach 120,000 metric tons in year 2004. China's top four vitamin C producers jointly account for 82,000 tons or 68% of the total global production capacity. The production capacity of each of the four Chinese producers is:

    • Northeast General Pharmaceutical Factory's production capacity at 22,000 tons;

    • HeBei Welcome Pharmaceutical Co., Ltd's production capacity at 15,000 tons;

    • Weisheng Pharmaceutical (Shijiazhuang) Co., Ltd's production capacity at 30,000 tons;

    • Jiangsu Jiangshan Pharmaceutical Co., Ltd's production capacity at 15,000 tons. 

Major global vitamin C producers, BASF and DSM, have an annual production capacity of 20,000 tons and 15,000 tons respectively.
