Canada's Fraser Valley Mass Poultry Slaughter On hold
The mass cull of 19 million birds in the Fraser Valley has been halted, with 13 per cent of the birds still alive.
The Canadian Food Inspection Agency is considering saving about two million birds originally slated for slaughter -most of them expensive breeder flocks.
"The majority of the birds in that 13 per cent are in the Chilliwack area. They're in the east area of the valley," says CFIA spokesperson Cornelius Kiley.
