Vietnamese aquaculture seeking EU co-operation
Vietnam is seeking technical and financial support from the EU's Fisheries Committee to help develop the country's domestic fisheries industry, said Vietnam's Deputy Minister of Agriculture and Rural Development, Vu Van Tam.
Tam said he hoped that Struan Stevenson, member of the European Parliament and the committee's vice president, would be the bridge between the Vietnamese fishery sector and the committee.
At a working session in Ha Noi on Monday (May 16), Stevenson explained the EU's strict quality requirements, saying that around 40% of aquaculture products consumed in EU countries were imported.
