Ukraine exports 9.5 million tonnes of grain
Ukraine has shipped out 9.489 million tonnes of grain in June-April of the 2010/2011 marketing year (July 2010-June 2011), according to the Ukrainian Grain Association.
The association has published a predictive balance of grain demand and offer for the 2010/2011 marketing year, compiled by the interdepartmental group of the Ministry of Economic Development and Trade, the Ministry of Agrarian Policy and Food Supplies, the Ukrainian Grain Association and the State Statistics Service.
In particular, in the period under review Ukraine exported 3.403 million tonnes of wheat, 2.458 million tonnes of barley and 3.473 million tons of corn.
The efficient export volume in May-June is estimated at 4.298 million tonnes, including 2.356 million tonnes of corn, and 1.909 million tonnes of wheat.
The transitive remainder is expected at 5.772 million tonnes by the end of the period, including 3.661 million tonnes of wheat, 2.458 million tonnes of barley, and 3.473 million tons of corn.
According to the media, in July 2010-March 2011, 9.056 million tonnes of grain were exported.
On April 27, the cabinet of ministers decided to abolish quotas on corn exports, and the decision took effect on May 5.
The Verkhovna Rada intends to introduce an export duty of 9% on wheat, 14% on barley, 12% on corn until January 1, 2012.
The cabinet of ministers set a quota of 2.7 million tonnes for grain export till 2011, including 500,000 tonnes of wheat, two million tonnes of corn, 200,000 tonnes of barley, 1,000 tonnes of rye, and 1,000 tonnes of buckwheat on October 4, 2010.
On December 6, 2010, the cabinet of ministers extended the quota for export of grain until March 31, 2011 (inclusive) and increased the size of the quota for wheat export from 500,000 tonnes to one million tonnes and the quota for corn export from two million tonnes to three million tonnes.
On March 30, the cabinet of ministers extended quotas for grain crops exportation until July 1, and increased corn export quota by two millions tonnes.
