Germany's EW Nutrition acquires MLR Innovations

EW Nutrition, German specialist in IgY technology, has gained access to the US marketplace through the acquisition of MLR Innovations in Urbandale, Iowa.

EW Nutrition will continue its aggressive worldwide growth plans into the North American marketplace focusing its activities on bioactive egg proteins (Globigen), phytobiotic plant extracts (Nutrax), direct-fed microbials, silage inoculants and other innovative technologies for the feed industries.

EW Nutrition's know-how coupled with MLR Innovations strong probiotic and silage inoculant focus will create a very dynamic biotechnology business. Jan Wesjohann, managing director of EW Nutrition GmbH said, "The acquisition of MLR Innovations will be an important milestone in the development of our company. In addition to the entry into the important US market we will get access to new technologies for our international product line."

The company's US headquarters will be located in Des Moines, Iowa and will conduct business under the EW Nutrition USA name.

Mark Richards, the former owner of MLR Innovations has been named president of the US branch. "I am very excited about this opportunity and the technology that EW Nutrition has developed over the years. Their expertise and know-how are light-years ahead of the competition," Richards said.
