Bhutan lifts ban on Indian poultry products
Bhutan has lifted the import ban on Indian poultry products due to an improvement in the bird flu situation in India.
Bhutan had banned Indian poultry and poultry products since December 2008 following H5N1 bird flu outbreaks in neighbouring Assam and West Bengal districts.
There is now minimal risk from the bird flu outbreak situation in India, according to a statement by the Department of Livestock.
But only frozen chicken and eggs by land transport via West Bengal and Assam can be imported from approved firms, said officials.
