Ukraine feed wheat prices up on export demand
Export demand has boosted Ukrainian feed wheat prices, and an increase in demand could further increase prices, according to analyst ProAgro.
Local feed wheat prices increased UAH10 per tonne last week, while exporting companies have started to increase prices in Black Sea ports, said ProAgro in a report.
Prices could increase by another UAH20-30 per tonne soon, ProAgro said.
Ukrainian wheat traded at about US$111 per tonne EXW as of mid-May against an average US$107 in the past four weeks.
Ukraine harvested a record 25.9 million tonnes of wheat in 2008, up from 13.9 million tonnes in 2007. Analysts said wheat exports this year could reach 11.5 million tonnes, up from 895,000 tonnes in 2007-08 when grain exports were restricted.
Ukraine's wheat crop this year could total 19.1 million tonnes, analysts said.
