Russia sees '08 grain harvest at 85 million tonnes

 

 

Russia is seen to harvest 85 million tonnes of grain, more than in the previous season which will allow exports as well as supplying domestic demand, according Russian agriculture minister Alexey Gordeyev.

 

The Minister noted that spring sowing campaign is conducted at 27 million hectares or 57 percent from the total sowing area. Gordeyev states the rates of the sowing campaign are good and current sowed area is bigger by 7 million hectares as compared to last season.
