UK's March wheat exports down 31.4 percent

 

 

The UK exported 147,811 tonnes of wheat in March, down 31.4 percent from the 215,486 tonnes exported in February, UK trade data issued through the Home Grown Cereals Authority Thursday (May 18) shows.

 

All but 5,288 tonnes of the March wheat exports were to countries within the European Union.

 

Through the first nine months of the 2005/06 marketing year, UK wheat exports totalled 1.85 million tonnes, down 26.5 percent on the year from 2.51 million tonnes.

 

UK barley exports totalled 31,203 tonnes in March, down from 53,630 tonnes in February. Barley exports for the marketing year so far total 548,516 tonnes, down from the 756,261 tonnes exported a year earlier.

 

Rapeseed exports tallied 12,270 tonnes in March, down from 23,390 tonnes in the previous month. For the marketing year so far rapeseed exports total 168,331 tonnes, up sharply from 36,567 tonnes for the same period last year.
