Below is an abstract of the report:
The pros and corn of grain-based fuel in China
Is converting two tonnes of corn into one tonne of bio fuel worth the effort and money? Several experts came together to study the issue last month, in response to a proposal by the Fengyuan and Tianguan groups to convert grain to bio fuel. At present, 10 million tonnes of petrol can be replaced with ethanol processed from 20 million tonnes of corn, while 30 million tonnes of corn could produce 5.5 million tonnes of ethylene.
This 3-page report includes:
- Impact of the extensive use of grain-processed fuel on grain supply
2. Effect of grain conversion on grain security
3. China's potential in developing bio fuel and biochemical products
