Iceland fish catch increased from 2011
 

 

Overall fish catch for Iceland in April 2012 has reached 80,340 tonnes, as compared to 36,756 tonnes in the same period last year.

 

Demersal species accounted for 36 thousand tonnes, thereof cod 16,000 tonnes, haddock nearly 5,000 tonnes, redfish 5,000 tonnes and saithe 4,000 tonnes. The pelagic catch was 38,000 tonnes, nearly all Blue whiting.

 

At constant prices the volume of the catch increased by 32.8% in April 2012 compared with April 2011.
