Ukrainian market to have quality poultry by late 2011

The Ukrainian market will be fully provided with quality poultry late this year, according to Ukrainian President Viktor Yanukovych.

"Today we are coming to a conclusion. We have at last succeeded in bringing the poultry production industry to a high level of competitiveness, and the Ukrainian market will be supplied with quality poultry by the end of 2011," he said.

The president said that at present, the market is 82-84% filled with such products.

In addition, Yanukovych forecast that next year Ukraine would be able to export 5-10 times more poultry.

"We need to expand our consumer markets," the president said.

According to Yanukovych, Ukraine should adopt European standards in the poultry industry, so that the country could gain all of the quality certificates needed in the second half of this year to open the way for the export of Ukrainian products.
