Ukraine's cattle population shows decrease

The number of cattle in Ukraine on May 1 totalled 5.179 million, 5.9% less compared to last year.

The number of cows on the date was 2.659 million, 3.8% less than a year ago.

The number of pigs fell by 1.3% on the year to 7.832 million, and the number of poultry increased by 6.4% to 196.171 million.

In the course of 2010, cattle numbers in Ukraine fell by 1.8% to 4.74 million, with the number of cows falling by 2.2% to 2.68 million. The number of pigs in 2010 increased by 6.1% to 8 million, and the number of poultry increased by 5.6% to 202 million.
