Dutch buys more TOPIGS sows in 2006

TOPIGS Nederland has sold 2.8 percent more gilts or additional 215,000 gilts were sold in the Dutch market, bringing its overall total of 355,000 gilts with a market share of 85 percent.

TOPIGS 20 has been the most saleable sow with market share of 72 percent. Turnover of semen for the in-house nucleus system rose by 6 percent while Dutch farmers produced about 140,000 gilts via the in-house nucleus system.
