Chile's Q1 fish industry exports up 30.1 percent on-year to US$360.1 million

Chile's ocean fishing industry exports totaled US$360.1 million in the first quarter, up 30.1 percent from US$277.06 million in the same quarter last year, industry association Sonapesca said Thursday (May 17).

Chile exported fishmeal and fish oil amounting to 142,458 tonnes in the quarter, up 22.1 percent from 116,670 tonnes in the same quarter last year.

In dollar terms, the exports of fishmeal and fish oil surged 73.9 percent on the year to US$157.21 million from US$90.41 million, Sonapesca added.
