China's corn imports up

 

 

China's corn import from January to March was 6,369 tonnes valued at US$2.074 million, up 150.8 and 72.3 percent respectively on-year.

 

China's corn import for 2004 was worth US$1.02 million and that for 2005 was US$1.50 million. The value of corn imports jumped to US$12 million in 2006, with the steepest rise in August.  

 

For March 2007, China imported 3,515 tonnes of corn worth US$590,000.
