UK pig industry lacking investments
Pig prices in the United Kingdom may have been comparatively healthy for several years running. But the local pig industry is still plagued by insufficient capital and problems.
A pig building specialist in the UK's East Yorkshire region thinks that the situation is now desperately urgent. Poor returns, he said, are a result of poor performance which inhibit investment, thereby creating a downward spiral.
The UK pig industry can no longer afford to wait for unrealistically high prices to bolster failing confidence, said the specialist, who added that no amount of government aid can help prop the industry up.
