Kazakhstan begins spring sowing movement

 

 

Kazakhstan's farmers have begun planting spring crops in its major grain-producing areas, said the Minister of Agriculture of the Republic of Kazakhstan, Asylzhan Mamytbekov, Tuesday (May 15).

 

According to him, the eastern and western regions of the country also started planting. As of May 15, grains, cereals were sown throughout 1.3 million hectares, slightly less than 10%, the area planted under corn - 63%, oilseeds - throughout 735,000 hectares of the planned 1,825 thousand hectares (40%). Sowing campaign of sugar beet and cotton was held at the area of 85% and 87% of the target, respectively.

 

According to the Ministry of Agriculture of Kazakhstan, due to peculiarities of weather, spring field works began a little earlier, especially in the southern regions.

 

According to some data from the regions, the area of ​​planted with spring crops in the current year will amount to 18.8 million hectares, the total area under crops - 21.5 million hectares, including grains throughout 16.2 million hectares, oilseeds - 1.8 million hectares.
