Ukraine's grain exports fall by 30 percent in 2006/2007

 

 

Ukraine has reduced its grain exports by 30 percent in 2006/2007, down to 8,246 million tonnes year-on-year.

 

According to the UkrAgroConsult, exports of barley are up by 31 percent to 4.56 million tonnes while corn exports fell to 693,400 tonnes in 2006.

 

In April this year, Ukraine increased grain export by 12 percent up to 1.027 million tonnes.

 

The Ukrainian government forecasts total exports in 2006/2007 will be 9.5 million tonnes.

 

In October-December 2006 the government has imposed limitation of grain, barley and corn export in order to prevent from prices rise on the internal market.

 

Later the Cabinet of ministers has lifted limitations of fodder grain export.
