Irish companies to promote recording software for hog producers
A new agreement between Agridata and pig data management specialists Agrosoft UK Ltd has allowed the former sole distributorship of the company's full range of recording software in Ireland
In January, Agridata became licensed partners for Agrosoft's WinPig programme and handheld technology. Agridata records sows from more than 150 producers.
James Nesling, Agrosoft UK Ltd sales and marketing manager said that by working together the two companies can extend the capabilities of WinPig across a wider customer base.
Producers using the WinPig programme would benefit from Windows based software, allowing full integration with existing hardware. The programme allows for simple inputing of herd data so producers can carry over records from most existing systems.
Agrosoft UK has invested heavily in adapting their desk based programmes for hand-held applications.
Using a hand-held PC, producers can record daily events such as individual services and farrowing data. This data can then be uploaded to a desk based PC to produce standard or tailored reports.
The technology is also part of the DARD Scheme, "Increasing Access to ICT", which promotes the use of innovative Information and Communication Technology within farm businesses in Northern Ireland where participants receive a handheld device to link with their WinPig programme.
Highlighting the benefits of the" Increasing Access to ICT Scheme" Manus McHenry, Scheme Manager, said farmers have the opportunity to access the latest technology and evaluate its use within their business.
The ability to record and access enterprise information on the move has the potential to improve accuracy, efficiency and overall business performance.
Feedback received from farmers so far has been very positive, McHenry added.
