South Korean poultry prices up this April

Rising feed costs and the effects of last year's bird-flu outbreak have caused chicken prices in South Korea to skyrocket. The Korea Poultry Association said the average price of chicken in local markets in April hit 1,916 won per kg, 18 percent higher than in March and the highest since 1994.

Egg prices shot up 30 percent as well to 1,337 won per 10 eggs, from 1,080 won a year earlier partly due to reduced imports from bird flu stricken Southeast Asia.
