Turkey may issue tender for corn imports
Turkey may hold a corn import tender in the near term as demand is now pegged at 500,000 tonnes, the state grain board TMO's General Manager Ismail Kemaloglu said on Tuesday (May 15).
The importation was due to low corn production which was below official forecasts last season, he said.
The government must give official authorisation for any duty-free imports by the grain board.
The grain board said earlier this month it had purchased 55,000 tonnes of corn in a import tender at a maximum price of US$233.20 per tonne.
