Sri Lanka restricts meat imports over bird flu fears
Following a World Health Organisation (WHO) warning that bird flu could become an epidemic, Sri Lanka has banned meat imports from countries which have reported bird flu.
The Sri Lankan officials added that they were also increasing surveillance on wild birds to prevent the disease from entering the country.
Chinese authorities confirmed yesterday that three more people have died from H7N9 bird flu in China, bringing the death toll to 35, with a total of 130 people infected with the virus.
