China's May soy imports forecast slides to 5.63 million tonnes
The soy import of China in May is now estimated at 5.63 million tonnes, the Ministry of Commerce stated on its website Monday (May 14).
The state-backed China National Grain & Oils Information Center said last week that May soy imports would likely reach 5.7 million tonnes compared with actual imports of 4.88 million tonnes in April.
The ministry's forecast, based on reports from importers during the April 16-30 period, may not tally with the actual import figure as it doesn't include all cargoes.
The ministry issues estimates twice a month.
