Zhongpin reports minor damage of pork facility after quake
Zhongpin Inc., China's leading meat and food processing company, announced that the recent earthquake did not severely affect its Sichuan facility, which produces 12.5 percent of the province's pork supply.
The company's facility in Sichuan is in Cangshan County, approximately 200 kilometers away from the epicenter of the earthquake. A preliminary evaluation has revealed minor damage to Zhongpin's facilities in Cangshan County.
However, the company said it is considering the risk of aftershocks and the safety of its employees and is uncertain when to resume in the plant.
The company is considering relocation to its Cangshan production to other facilities in central China that were not affected by the earthquake.
Zhongpin is a meat and food processing company that specializes in pork and pork products in China.
