Top 90 mainland Chinese meat corporations unveiled

The top 90 mainland Chinese meat and meat products corporations have been unveiled at the recent 2008 China International Meat Industry Exhibition (CIMIE), held in Beijing.

Leading the list is the Shineway Group that reports an annual sales of RMB33 billion. The Shineway Group is followed by the Yurun Group, Linyi Xincheng Jinluo Meat Products Co. Ltd, the Shandong Liuhe Group and Zhucheng Trading.

Pengcheng branch office of the Shunxin Agriculture group and the Huadu Group are ranked 13th and 30th respectively. Making RMB400 million worth of sales annually, Inner Mongolia Little Sheep Meat Industry Co. Ltd is ranked 90th in the list.

Yet, despite outstanding results fared by the top meat corporations, Deng Fu Jiang, a spokesperson from the CIMIE said China's meat corporations are still not on par with international corporations as China's meat corporations are smaller in scale, less innovative and slower to be modernised.
