Fish farm hit by disease back in business
An English fish farm forced to close down in 2004 after an outbreak of the rare tench rhabdovirus disease is now re-stocking again.
The Calverton farm was run by the Environment Agency to provide fish for rivers in England and Wales.
The farm culled more than a million of its stock when they were infected with the virus two years ago.
The disease causes skin ulcers, haemorrhaging and death in fish, but is not dangerous to humans.
Currently, the farm has around 500,000 fishes in 35 ponds. It is expecting its first harvest in 2 years this autumn.
