Peru's shrimp exports soar 24.9% in Q1 2013

Fuelled by the dynamism of requests from countries such as US, Spain and France, Peruvian shrimp exports grew by 24.9% in the first quarter of this year.

According to the Peruvian Exporters' Association (Adex), the shrimp shipments overseas totalled US$25.1 million in the first three months of 2013, this amount is five million higher compared to the same period last year.

Adex's manager of Services and Extractive Industries, Susana Yturry said the recovery of shrimp exports is mainly explained by the slight improvement in the US economy and a greater demand from Spain and France, despite going through a serious economic crisis.
