China's 2012 winter wheat yield seen to beat last year's
With the normal weather conditions in the coming period, the winter wheat crop of China will possibly surge for 2012, according to the Ministry of Commerce.
Since the beginning of spring in February, soil moisture and temperature have been favourable for wheat crops growth, the ministry notes.
It is less than one month from wheat reaping on a large scale.
Meanwhile, China has almost finished early rice transplanting and the crop's planting area is expected to increase from last year
The ministry predicts that China will achieve bumper summer harvests this year. Summer grain crops mainly include winter wheat and early rice, making up over 20% of the full year's production.
