China's April cotton imports rise 143% on-year

 

 

The April cotton imports of China totalled 509,700 tonnes, a surge of 143% from the same period of the previous year, according to a report released by an industry website, cncotton.com.

 

However, the imports last month fell 18% from the previous month, the report said.

 

The country imported a total of 2.08 million tonnes of cotton in the first four months of this year, a jump of 96% on-year, noted the report.

 

The General Administration of Customs usually releases the official cotton import data around the 20th day of every month.
