Brazil's Centre-South region's ethanol production down 40.43%
From the start of crop year 2012-13 to May 1, 2012, Brazil's Centre-South region's ethanol production dropped 40.43% on year to 539.6 million litres (142.5 million gallons).
Hydrous ethanol totalled 464.6 million litres, down 18.44% in annual terms, data of the Brazilian Sugarcane Industry Association (UNICA) showed. Anhydrous ethanol output, in turn, registered a fall of 77.69% to 75 million litres in the period.
The volume of crushed sugar cane from the season's start to May 1 summed up 13.979 million tonnes, marking a 41.77% on-year drop, UNICA also said.
The current sugar cane crop, which started on April 1, 2012, will end on March 31, 2013.
