China's new soy supply estimated at 60.5 million tonnes
China's new soy supply in the crop year of 2009-10 is expected to reach 60.5 million tonnes, up 6.8% on-year, according to the China National Grain and Oils Information Centre (CNGOIC).
The new supply includes 14.5 million tonnes of home-grown soy and 46 million tonnes of imports.
The think-tank estimated in its May oilseed and oil market forecast report that soy consumption from oil crushing would amount to 48 million tonnes in this crop year, up 5.5 million tonnes from the 2008-09 crop year.
It updates its estimates once a month.
