Northern Australia to rely more on technology for grain profits

Northern Australia is looking more on technological advances to boost grain yields and profits further.

Australian grain growers have traditionally attained some of the strongest annual rises in grain productivity, yet farmers should continue to adapt to innovations for continued good harvests, the Grains Research and Development Corporation (GRDC) said.

Author Peter Wylie said there are still many farmers who could do more to fine tune their systems and profitability.

Wylie noted that grain production is set to change dramatically in the short term. For grain farmers to profit, there should be more emphasis on agronomy and crop yield, he added.
