Northeast China pumps over 2 million tonnes of grain to other areas
Northeast China transported a total of 2.34 million tonnes of grain to other areas in the first ten days of May, Wang Yongping, spokesperson of the Ministry of Railways, said.
Of the total, 1.65 million tonnes of grain were delivered to the Shanhaiguan Railway Station, double the volume of the previous delivery.
Officials noted that due to rapid railway transportation of grain, South China's grain price declined.
On May 1, the Ministry of Railways decided to use all its available resources to transport 10 million tonnes of grain from Northeast China within 60 days in order to double the grain transportation volume from Northeast China to the Shanhaiguan Station.
