Italy to cut soy acreage by 19 percent in 2008
Italy will reduce soy planting by 18.6 percent to 106,000 hectares this year against 130,000 ha in 2007, the Italian National Statistics Institute (ISTAT) said.
Italy's lower soy planting is expected to affect the market of the northern region of Veneto by a decline of 18.5 percent.
The northern Lombardian soy market is expected to fall by 9.1 percent.
The whole seeds market in the northern region of Friuli-Venezia Giulia is expected to drop by 5 percent this year.
