India egg group raises price
The Namakkal zone of India's National Egg Co-ordination Committee (NECC) has increased egg prices to Rs2.20.
The price was increased due to lower production in poultry farms during summer and a rise in demand over the general elections, according to the committee.
The NECC also revised the price of cull birds to Rs35, down from an earlier price of Rs.42.
But buyers continued to purchase the cull birds at Rs32 and sell them to consumers at Rs42. The price difference had affected the sale of cull birds.
Therefore, the NECC had decided to fix Rs35 as the price of cull birds, which would enable consumers to purchase at a lower price.
