Private companies and local research organizations are forming the Brazilian Strategic Soy Committee, or CESB, to study issues related to soy such as productivity, local newspaper Valor Economico reported Monday (May 11).

CESB has founding members such as private companies Cargill, Syngenta and Rabobank, as well as local research organizations such as Celeres and Esalq, the newspaper reported.

CESB and its research plans will be presented at a conference May 20. CESB was unavailable for further comment.

Brazil is the world's No. 2 producer of soy after the US.
