China soy industry flourishes with 30 percent more manufacturers

China had around 50 soy enterprises in 2007, up by 30 percent on-year, the Soybean Product Committee of the China National Food Industry Association recently reported.

Each soy manufacturer in China uses over 3,000 tonnes of soy and soy product with export value of US$28 million, up 27 percent over that of 2006, the association said.

Apart from the agricultural markets, convenience stores and chain stores are already selling soy products such as tofu, bean curd skin and dried tofu.

The output of bean curd stick and fresh bean curd skin has also increased rapidly, prompting experts to expect that China's soy industry is about to enter a rapid development phase.
