South Korea finds second bird flu case in Seoul

The South Korean government has found a new bird flu case in Seoul on Sunday.

Poultry were tested positive for the H5 strain of bird flu at an illegal farm in Songpa district and in response, over 8,000 ducks and chickens have been culled, according to the Ministry of Food, Agriculture, Forestry and Fisheries.

It is yet to be confirmed whether the strain is the virulent H5N1.

On last Monday (May 5, 2008), the bird flu virus was discovered at an aviary in Gwangjin, eastern Seoul.

Since the bird flu emerged last month, South Korea has culled about 6 million of birds and decontaminated several poultry farms, vehicles and traditional markets.
